Ranking the Most Youth-Obsessed Provinces in Thailand

The Thai provinces most hooked on aesthetic treatments have been revealed.

Using data from Google Keyword Planner, we analyzed search interest for various anti-aging treatments across Thailand over the past year. By aggregating interest scores for terms like  ‘fillers,’ and ‘hifu,’ we created a Beauty Index. This is a measure of demand for these treatments, normalized for population size in each province. The rankings reveal which regions are leading the demand for age-defying procedures.

Thailand’s thriving cosmetic treatment industry plays a significant role in the economy, supporting professionals from doctors to beauty technicians. As demand continues to grow, the sector offers options ranging from budget-friendly solutions to high-end luxury services.

The Most Youth-Obsessed Provinces in Thailand

1. Bangkok

The capital, Bangkok, dominated our rankings with a Beauty Index of 1.11, standing head and shoulders above the other provinces on our list. Several factors are likely to drive demand for anti-aging treatments in the capital, including a higher concentration of wealthy professionals and greater disposable income. With a large working-age population, Bangkokians may also be more conscious of maintaining a youthful appearance in a competitive job market. In any case, those seeking anti-aging treatments in the Big Mango have no shortage of options as the city is home to an estimated 2,000 aesthetic clinics!

2. Phuket

Phuket placed second with a Beauty Index of 0.58. While there is search interest across a wide range of procedures, Lip fillers are in particularly strong demand. The island attracts a steady influx of international tourists and has a growing luxury tourism sector. However, factors such as increasing urbanization, rising disposable income, and exposure to beauty trends through social media are also likely contributing to demand from local residents.

3. Nonthaburi

Perhaps it comes as no surprise that Nonthaburi ranks third on our list with an index of 0.46. Known for its luxury properties, the province is home to many of Thailand’s wealthy residents. Naturally, looking good and staying youthful is a priority, with skin-tightening treatments among the most sought-after cosmetic procedures. With easy access to Bangkok’s top aesthetic clinics and a growing number of high-end clinics within Nonthaburi itself, the demand for anti-aging treatments remains strong.

4. Pathum Thani

Pathum Thani follows closely with a Beauty Index of 0.45, reflecting a relatively strong demand for anti-aging treatments. Home to major universities like Thammasat University and the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), the province has a large population of students and young professionals. As part of the Greater Bangkok Metropolitan Area, it is also attracting a growing number of upper-middle-class professionals, bringing with them lifestyle trends that include a strong interest in aesthetics.

5. Chonburi

Chonburi ranked fifth with a Beauty Index of 0.39. Pattaya, the province’s best-known city, is a major urban and lifestyle hub, driving strong demand for beauty and wellness treatments. While international tourism plays a role, the high search interest in anti-aging treatments from Thai-language searches suggests significant local demand.

Other Notable Provinces

Chiang Mai

“The Rose of the North,” Chiang Mai ranks joint 6th with an index of 0.35. The city boasts a vibrant cosmetics and beauty sector, featuring numerous aesthetic clinics. Among the most sought-after treatments are fillers and other injections. Additionally, there’s a noticeable uptick in interest for non-invasive skin tightening procedures, such as Ulthera and Ultraformer II.

Rayong

Hot on the heels of Chiang Mai, the eastern province of Rayong also makes the top 10, breaking the dominance of central Thailand provinces. Being within driving distance from Bangkok and home to numerous ultra-luxury holiday properties and villas, Rayong attracts a high-end crowd, which may explain the keen interest in beauty and anti-aging topics.

Ranong

Bordering the Andaman Sea, the southern province of Ranong is perhaps best known as the gateway to tropical islands, including the Surin Islands and Koh Phayam. The focus on tourism may explain why residents take care of their appearance, as Ranong secures a 13th place on our list with strong engagement in anti-aging keywords and a beauty index of 0.21.

Trat

Not far behind is Trat (0.19), which is also showing strong interest across all anti-aging treatments. Although best known as a relaxing, off-the-beaten-path travel destination, it’s clear that people living here also value looking good.

The Least Beauty Obsessed Provinces

Si Saket (0.04)

With the lowest beauty index, the residents of Si Saket are showing the least interest in anti-aging treatments per capita.

Narathiwat (0.05)

The southern province is also showing relatively low engagement in anti-aging related topics.

Surin (0.0.5)

Tying with Narathiwat, Surin remains one the least youth-obsessed provinces in Thailand.

Thailand’s Most Popular Anti-Aging Treatments

Dermal fillers, and lip fillers top the list as the most sought-after procedures by search volume, while skin-tightening treatments like Ulthera and Ultraformer III continue to generate strong interest.

With an aging population and increasing beauty consciousness, interest in skin rejuvenation and non-surgical enhancements is on the rise. In 2024, Thailand’s beauty and personal care market reached an impressive $7.2 billion in value, reflecting a 13.9% YoY growth. Beyond its economic influence, the industry empowers individuals to refine their appearance and boost confidence, making aesthetic treatments a deeply ingrained part of modern Thai lifestyle.

2. The total population size for each province was sourced from Wikipedia providing an estimate of the number of inhabitants in each region.

3. The resident population is not the same as the total online population in each region. In this study, we used official population statistics instead of online population estimates to avoid skewing the data against provinces that attract large numbers of tourists.

Data Analysis

1. Search Volume Aggregation

  • We aggregated the monthly search volumes for the selected terms for each province to calculate the total monthly search volume. This ensured a comprehensive picture of anti-aging related search activity in each location.

2. Normalization

  • To account for differences in population size among provinces, we normalized the data by calculating a ranking index using the following formula:
(Monthly Search Volume / Population Size) × 100
  • This approach allowed us to standardize search volumes relative to the population of each province, making the data comparable across different locations.

By applying this methodology, we were able to identify the provinces in Thailand with the highest levels of interest in anti-aging treatments and aesthetic procedures relative to the total population size
